Abbe Tanenbaum (playwright)
In addition to being a playwright, Abbe is an actress, writer and personal organizer. She moved to Northern Ireland with her husband and their dog, Chewie, after seven years in New York City - trading skyscrapers for the Mourne mountains. Some previous credits include: Venus in Fur, The Last Five Years, The Fantasticks, and The Last Night Of Ballyhoo. Abbe holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College. She is passionate about creating complex female characters, politically relevant art and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. What Kind of Woman is her first full length play. Jessica Bashline (Director)
Jessica is an Assistant Professor of Theater at the University of Miami, where she teaches acting and theater creation. She was the Artistic Director and co-founder of Strange Sun Theater, a theater company in New York City dedicated to creating magical new theater that ignites in audiences and artists, the power of possibility. In addition she was the Consulting Artistic Director of the Sheen Center, when it opened in downtown Manhattan, curating a full season for 2 theaters. Before that she served as the Artistic Director of Wingspan Arts, an arts education company in New York City. Jessica works primarily as a freelance theater director specializing in new play and musical development, her favorite credits include; Loving Repeating (NYC Premiere), Life of the Party (NYU-Premiere Production of Larry O’Keefe & Nell Benjamin’s new musical), at NYU Steinhardt Gypsy, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, with Strange Sun Closer Than You Think (World Premiere), The Drowning Girls (NYC Premiere). |
Beth Wallace (role of Nora)
Beth recently appeared as Vivian Bearing in W;t for Bellingham TheatreWorks, Arkadina in The Seagull at Idiom Theatre, and Madame Armfeldt in A Little Night Music in WWU’s Summerstock. She has performed many leading roles in dramatic and musical theatre including Hedda Gabler, Lady Macbeth, Anna Leonowens, and Maria von Trapp, as well as operatic roles such as the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Berta in Barber of Seville, and the Mother in Hansel and Gretel. Beth is thrilled to be helping to bring Abbe Tanenbaum’s play to the stage. |
Nalica Hennings (role of Anne)
Nalica, based in Seattle, Washington, is so proud to be participating in this wonderful project. She is a recent graduate of Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Theatre minor. Nalica is a singer, actor, and dancer who engages in a variety of different types of performances throughout Bellingham and Seattle. Some of her more memorable performances have been as Kiki in Sugar: a cabaret, Judith B. Kaufman in An American Daughter, and Poppea in the opera L’incoronazione di Poppea. Nalica will soon be moving back to Seattle, her hometown, and is planning to continue her career as a performer there. |
Katie Glasser (voiceovers and crew)
Katie Glasser is a fourth year student at Western studying theatre with a concentration in acting as well as some lighting design and playwrighting. She is originally from Lynnwood Washington. Katie has always had a love for watching theatre and discovered her love for performing and designing in high school. She is headed into her final year at Western this fall as the Student Theatre Production’s Production Manager and is excited for the return of a full season at WWU. Be sure to see her in perform and further support the Sylvia Center in September in an anthology series, The Stars Catch Your Butt on Fire! |
Boomer Lusink (voiceovers and technical direction)
Boomer Lusink is a theater artist recently graduated from Western Washington University with a BA Theater and BS Chemistry. Before What Kind of Woman, Boomer directed, set, and sound designed the Tony award winning play Copenhagen through STP at WWU. In addition to producing, directing, designing and performing, Boomer is also an emerging playwright, with his play The Woodpecker being a John Cauble Short Play Semi-Finalist in 2021. |
Scout Powell (Technical Direction)
Scout will be a senior studying Entertainment Design and technology at WWU in the fall. She has a love of theater and film and is super excited to integrate her two passions all in one live streamed theater performance. In her free time she is watching movies, hanging out with friends and video editing! |
